GSSE Exam Structure
The GSSE consists of two papers: Anatomy, followed by Pathology and Physiology. The Anatomy paper includes 100 questions, with 20 “Spot” questions that ask you to identify and answer questions about anatomical images. The Pathology and Physiology paper has 120 questions. Each paper is timed, lasting 2.5 hours (150 minutes), which means you have about 75 to 90 seconds per question.
Question Types
There are four question designs in the GSSE: Type X, Type A, Type B, and Anatomy Spot questions.
- Type X questions: The most common, feature a stem and four true-or-false options.
- Type A questions: “Best of five” questions (the classic MCQ).
- Type B questions: Test your knowledge of relationships between a statement and a reason.
- Anatomy Spots: Require short text answers (up to 10 words). Linked to illustrations and worth a total of eight marks.
Question banks, like GetThru, can be a valuable tool for preparing for various exams, whether it’s a licensure exam, in-training exam, or a specialty exam.
